Descendants of Joseph IRELAND & Ruth BEST

The original Ireland House was built by Joseph Ireland, an immigrant from Yorkshire, England, between 1835-1837. Joseph and his descendants occupied it until June 1987 when it was purchased by the City of Burlington. The house was restored in 1990 and opened as a museum in 1991. Approximately 90% of the furnishings belonged to the Ireland family.
