Descendants of Hugh DAVIS & Eliza IRWIN

Hugh and Eliza were married in Crossmolina, Mayo, Connacht, Ireland. They had a family of at least three sons. Two of these sons, John and Hugh emigrated to Canada circa 1850 and eventually settled in Arran Township, Bruce, County, Ontario.

Big Bruce is currently on permanent display at the Aren-Elderslie Municipal offices in Chesley Ontario. The plaque next to Big Bruce reads: Placed here by the Bruce County Cattlemen's Association and the Township of Elderslie, in June 1980 as a tribute to:
