Paisley Advocate March 14, 1912. Killed By Falling Tree
Malcolm Blue Meets Instant Death in O'Hagan's Bush
The town was startled this (Wednesday ) morning by the report of a fatal accident in O'Hagan's bush, on the 10th of Elderslie, a short distance from where a gang of men had been cutting logs all winter for A. Fisher and son.
Malcolm Blue and William Murcar were engaged felling a big elm tree, and had sawn nearly through the butt, when it began to topple over. The sawn trunk split, a large stout splinter about 10x 18 inches standing firmly up from the stump, raising the butt 25 or 30 feet in the air before allowing it to fall. Then the butt swung out sideways striking Blue on the head and crushing him beneath its weight quite deeply into the snow.
As usual the men had stepped back to what they considered a safe place until the tree would reach the ground. Murcur had gone behind another tree, and as soon as the crash was over he came out to resume work. Not seeing his companion anywhere he glanced up and down the roadway a couple of times before noting the unfortunate man's leg's sticking upwards from beneath the tree. The head and body were not visable at all.. As the trunk was about two feet in diameter it was necessary to cut a length off before it could be moved by a team of horses.
The deceased leaves a widow and four children , who havethe deepest sympathy of the community in their sudden bereavement. Deceased was about 44 years of age.

Paisley Advocate March 1912
Mr. Alex Blue, who had his leg broken in a railway wreck on the CPR three weeks ago, is able to be about on crutches, and came home from Walkerton hospital on Saturday.
It will be remembered that the engine of struck the caboose Alex was riding in a following train and knocked into kindling wood. He was quite fortunate in escaping with his life, even if he is somewhat broken up. The pitch-in occurred about 2 o'clock a.m. , while the train was standing on the main line at Laurel station. Noticing a couple of the train hands moving around quite lively , Alex looked out to see the cause of the commotion, and was horrified to see the other engine only a few yards away, and coming head-on towards the caboose. Before he could make a move, the impact had splintered the caboose to kindling wood and he was thrown headlong into the heap. As often happens, the wreckage was threatened with further destruction by fire from the overturned stove. For awhile there was the appearance that Alex was doomed to go to blazes, for part of his clothing was actually on fire, but he managed to extinguish the smudge in his torn dry goods.
Alex had no accident insurance, but he recounts that at Proton Station a few hours before the mishap, he had noticed an advertising poster on which a policy was offered at the rate of 25 cents per day, and he had for a moment mentally debated as to whether he should take on a contract for eight days . His foresight was not equal to his hindsight in this crisis. However he is still privileged to remain among mundane mortals and given an opportunity to work out a second chance.

• He worked as a tinsmith. He worked for Ross McArthur's Hardware installing furnaces and bathrooms.

Paisley Advocate August 7, 1940
The sad news of the sudden passing of Lillian Blue, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Blue, on Wednesday evening cast a shadow over the whole community, for the little girl's entire life had been spent in the village, and she was loved by a host of schoolmates and friends.
Although as an infant Lillian has experienced ill health, for the past ten years she had been the picture of health., and her bright ,sunny disposition had endeared her not only to the family but every citizen as well, so that her death came as a startling shock.
Just before 9:30 o'clock Wednesday evening, with several neighbouring youngsters, Lillian was running down the sidewalk of Victoria Street, only a few rods from the Blue home when she abruptly threw both arms in the air and collapsed on the cement. Thinking she had tripped, her companions came back to where she lay face down, but when they received no response to their questions, one of the little girls ran into the home of Murray McGillivray and told him Lillian was hurt. When he reached the prostrate girl she was beyond human aid, and although medical assistance was called there was nothing that could be done to save the young life.
In view of the opinion that death might have been attributed to injuries received by falling on the pavement, Dr. R J Tucker, local coroner informed chief County Coroner of Southampton, of the circumstances. The Chief coroner was in Paisley on Thursday morning, and after a thorough consultation, issued the information that death was due to dilation of the heart, probably brought on by the exertion of hard running.
Born in Paisley 13 years ago, Lillian had attended the local public school, and was one of the brightest pupils in her class. Besides her grief-stricken parents, she is survived by one brother and two sisters- Alex jr. of Paisley; (Isobel) Mrs. Ivan Doupe, of Kincardine and Jessie at home.
The funeral, which was very largely attended, particularly by her school-mates and chums, was held from the family residence, Victoria Street, on Friday afternoon with services conducted by Rev. E. D. Dickson, rector of the Church of Ascension. Interment was in Stark Vale Cemetery. The pallbearers were six schoolmates; Douglas Jasper, Howard Winch, Bobbie Grove, Douglas Ellis, George Dobson and Earl Minto. The many floral tributes were carried by other young friends of the deceased: June and Joyce Ayerst, Jean McGregor, Jean McNeill, Edith, Laura and Billie Hodgkinson, Marjorie Ash, Catherine Clark, Dorothy Jasper, Caroline Rolston, Gwen Stark, Muriel McCaw and Louise Beattie.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Doupe, Misses Marjorie and Dorothy Doupe, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stanley and Mrs. Henry Dalmer, all of Kincardine; Duncan McArthur of Ripley; John B. Vasey of Owen Sound, principal of the local continuation school, and Mrs. B. Post, of Owen Sound, principal of the local public school.
