4. Catherine MORE (John1) was born on May 13, 1821 in Avoch, , Ross & Cromarty, Scotland,1 died on November 28, 1896 in East Nissouri Twp, Oxford Co, Ontario, Canada2 aged 75, and was buried in Ingersoll Rural Cemetery, Oxford Co, Ontario, Canada.2

Catherine married Donald PATIENCE on February 28, 1845 in Avoch, , Ross & Cromarty, Scotland.2 Donald was born on February 20, 1822 in Avoch, , Ross & Cromarty, Scotland.5

5. John MORE (John1) was born on October 30, 1823 in Avoch, , Ross & Cromarty, Scotland,3 died on January 10, 1908 in Hartney, Cameron RM, Manitoba, Canada4 aged 84, and was buried in Hartney Riverside Cemetery, Hartney, Manitoba, Canada.

More, John Sr. - (A Century of Living Hartney 1882-1982)

John More, born in Scotland in 1823 married Louisa Susannah Short in 1850. They Immigrated to Canada and settled near London, Ontario in 1870's. Their family consisted of seven boys and five girls - John, Catherine, Louisa, Colin, Reuben, William, David, Christian, James, Eliza, Ebenezer and Marion. After a short stay in Ontario, they decided to come west - John and Reuben remained in Ontario. James died in Winnipeg at the age of 15. They arrived in Winnipeg in 1882. John and Susannah came to the Hartney area in 1887 and homesteaded on SW1/4 4-5-23. Susannah died in 1907 and John died in 1908. They are buried in Riverside Cemetery at Hartney. Ebenezer lived with his parents and took out papers on NW1/4 18-5-22. After his parents' death, he moved to Brandon where he died in 1924. This land is presently owned by Elton More. Louisa married Horace Bartlett and lived at Forrest, Manitoba. Christian married William Little and lived at Calgary, Alberta. Eliza married Robert Mills and lived at Vancouver, British Columbia.
Marion married Francis Skelton and lived at Melita, Manitoba. Catherine married David Stewart in 1877. She and family of two boys - Wesley and Willie and two girls - Bella and Katie came to the West Hall district and bought the SE1/2 9-5-22 in 1899 from the Southwestern Colonization Railway Co. They put up a sod house and barn and lived there until 1901, when she sold to her brother Colin. She the lived for some years with her parents. When they passed away, she and Willie farmed there until 1922, when Willie married Millie Walker and moved to Kitscoty, Alberta. Catherine also moved to Kitscoty and resided there until her death in 1946. William More married Elizabeth Legg (spelt on grave stone Legge). They too, came to the West Hall district in 1884. He filed to homestead NW1/4 18-5-22. This site was chosen as he thought it would be an ideal spot to raise cattle. The large ravine which runs through this section would provide plenty of native pasture and there were some springs in the bottom to provide water. He built on the edge of the ravine and had a panoramic view of the valley. In later years, they retired to Brandon where they passed away. Their only child, Anthony, lived at Vancouver and died in 1973. This land is now farmed by Willie Cloet. David More married Janet Victoria McDougall in 1893. Colin More married Elizabeth Anne Watson in Ontario in 1880. They came to Winnipeg in 1882. He worked in the city and on spare time started looking for a homestead.
