George came from Lower Canada as an early settler of Brant Twp. He married Margaret GUINN about 1850. Margaret's family were also from Lower Canada and settlers in Brant Twp. They had three sons before Margaret died in 1853. George relocated to Elderslie Twp and remarried to Mary Ann CRAIG and they had six children. Although George started out as a farmer in Elderslie by 1867 he had a Saddler business in Pailsey. In 1870 George and family relocated to Iowa, USA for a short while and then returned to Bentink Twp and later he retired to Hanover.
