Obituary for Samuel REID (1852-1933) Paisley Advocate, February 12, 1933. After a lingering illness Mr. Samuel Reid, passed away at his home in Pinkerton, on Wednesday evening in his 81st year. Born in King Twp., York County he came with his parents and elder brother to Brant Twp., later moving to the 12th concession of Greenock. The subject of this notice continued to occupy this farm until about 12 years ago. He retired and moved to Pinkerton. The deceased was the last surviving member of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Reid. He was a member of Knox Memorial Church and a conservative in politics. In 1883 Mr. Reid married to Mary Jane Keyes, also of Greenock, who survives him with their four daughters: Mrs. Richard Pearce, (Mary) of Paisley; Mrs. Clarence McTeer, (Eleanor) also of Paisley; Mrs. Robert Slessor, (Myrtle) of the 10th of Kincardine Twp.; and Mrs. Thomas Hutchison, (Sylvia) of Harriston. The funeral was held from the family residence on Friday and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Brand, assisted by Mr. Summerbee. Interment in Purdy's Cemetery. Pallbearers were four sons-in-law and two eldest grandsons.
