Wedding, WATSON-METCALFE : Paisley Advocate, October 1944.
A wedding of local interest was solemnized at the parsonage in Milverton on Friday last, when one of Cargill's most popular young ladies, Miss Florence Metcalfe, only daughter of Mrs. Metcalfe and the late Mr. Jonathan Metcalfe, became the bride of Mr. John Watson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Watson of Eden Grove. The ceremony being performed by Rev. Huddleston, a former pastor of the local United Church, but now residing in Milverton. Both young people are well known here, the groom having been raised in the Eden Grove section and the bride who was born in Greenock, has for a number of years been connected with Bell Telephone Co. as an operator in the Cargill office and later in the Walkerton office, giving her best in both places where she was popular with the public on account of her pleasant, courteous manner. After the ceremony the wedding party and a number of friends partook of a sumptuous wedding dinner prepared by the Huddlestons for them. The happy couple left on short trip to Kitchener, Niagara Falls and Queenston. The many beautiful and useful gifts received show in a measure the esteem in which this young couple is held.
